Entertainments during the school holidays
The Tourist Office, Town Council and partners offer families a full program of fun and festive entertainments during the school holidays.
Creative and culinary workshops, games and observation quizzes around the town, fancy-dress parades, dances at the casino disco, workshops with magicians and circus artists, sandcastle competitions, photo marathons, treasure hunts…Carnival entertainments from 15 February to 14 March

The Sea and Mackerel Festival
Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 August 2014
Every summer the Town Council pays tribute to the fishermen by organizing a festival in their honor. For two days a village opposite the Town Hall offers a variety of entertainments including demonstrations with lifeguard dogs, an exhibition of model boats, traditional wooden toys and games, stand up paddle lessons and stands representing Trouville’s associations like the Friends of the Museum, the SNSM (the lifeguards’ association) and the CNTH (the sailing club).
On Saturday evening you are invited to a traditional meal of grilled mackerel near the swimming pool. Sunday commemorates those lost at sea, with a mass, a tribute, boat trips and a blessing of the boats.
For 16 years running jockeys and celebrities have gathered on Trouville beach to take part in donkey races and raise money for ELA (the European association for research into leukodystrophy). From the start this event has been sponsored by Trouville Town Council. The public are welcome to encourage the jockeys and join in the fun alongside representatives of ELA.
A Gastronomic Ramble
Tuesday 19 August
The 6th edition of the Gastronomic Ramble will set off from Trouville Tourist Office at 9.00am to discover Norman architecture along country roads and the coast of the Pays d’Auge. A 10km walking tour will bring the walkers back to Trouville to enjoy a buffet lunch at the Maison Stéphane Hessel – Maison des Associations. Price per person: 10€
Tightrope Walking by night
22 and 23 August
A weekend of family entertainment during which talented tightrope walkers will demonstrate their art on the beach and in the town center. Adults and children are also invited to learn how to tightrope walk in afternoon workshops from 3.00pm. The weekend will culminate in magical night-time performances on the beach.
The World Equestrian Games
From 23 August to 7 September
From 23 August to 7 September Normandy hosts the 7th edition of the World Equestrian Games, officially known as the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games Normandy 2014. 1000 champions and horses from 60 nations compete in 8 world championships: Dressage, Driving, Endurance, Eventing, Jumping, Para-Dressage, Reining and Vaulting. The public are also offered Horse-Ball and Polo demonstrations, and many other opportunities to share the excitement of equestrian sports in an exceptional setting.
Trouville’s Short Film
From 5 to 13 September 2014
9 days devoted to short films, videos, music, photos, exhibitions, meetings and debates…
This festival has built a really creative bridge between two continents, by presenting the latest developments in film, music, the visual arts and new media in both France and Quebec. “Off Courts” is a must for all those involved in short films.
Since 2000 the festival has welcomed a growing number of professionals, and while the framework is still the close relationship between France and Quebec, the festival is now an international platform open to new talent in all the arts. Every year the Digital Arts Lab brings together artists from many different countries. The festival is also an important international short film market.Read more...
The Trouville Women’s Running Race
A 3 or 6km women’s running race by the sea and through the streets of Trouville, which is also a festival of fitness and wellbeing.
Trouville’s Jazz and Gastronomy festival
4 and 5 October 2014
For the third year running musicians and Epicureans will gather to celebrate the good life in Trouville. With street music and concerts, gastronomic snacks and traditional Norman meals, this festival brings together music and conviviality.
Enjoy a drink, a plate of shellfish and a Norman dessert to the sound of festive street music. Then end the day with a concert.

The Marguerite Duras Weekend
Marguerite Duras’ name will always be linked to Trouville. For the 19th year running the Town Council has organized a weekend festival in her honor. Discover the writer, film maker and theater director through film screenings, readings, talks and new creations inspired by her work.
Since 2009 the Marguerite Duras Prize has been awarded in Trouville during this festival.
About 50 authors from different spheres come to meet the public, dedicate their works and take part in round-table discussions, interviews and talks…

The Ali Baba Toy Fair
Sunday 7 December
Ali Baba’s Fair is from 10.00am to 4.30pm in the Salon des Gouverneurs of Trouville’s Casino Barrière on Sunday 7 December. The Town Council allows children and teenagers to exhibit and sell toys in good condition, provided each child offers one toy to be redistributed to other children in Trouville.
